Telemedicine and applications
Elfriede is 75 years old and lives alone in her large country house. Although she is still very slim and lively, she has recently been suffering from low blood pressure and fatigue. Until now, she has kept a detailed record of her heart rate and blood pressure readings and shown her notes to her doctor. However, keeping written records for her increasingly frequent doctor's visits has become a growing burden. Especially since she lives in a rural area, and the trip to the general practitioner's office is relatively long.
A friend and former caregiver recommended the JAMES tablet and Vital sensors to her. The JAMES tablet is a device adapted for older adults, designed for video calls and recording important health parameters. When used together with the Vital sensors – a Bluetooth bathroom scale and a blood pressure monitor – the JAMES tablet functions as a digital health coach. The measurements recorded by the Vital sensors are sent directly to the clinic, where they can be accessed at any time. In addition, the video call feature allows for online medical check-ups. Thanks to JAMES, Elfriede no longer has to make the arduous trip she used to have to take for routine check-ups. The tablet also reminds her to take important medications and is connected to the JAMES Care Center, where nurse Michaela works.
At the Care Center, Michaela monitors the vital signs of up to 50 seniors and contacts the patient and their family if the readings are unusual. So, if Elfriede's blood pressure drops significantly, she and her relatives are notified immediately and receive instructions on the next steps.

Elfriede's nephew, Peter, also uses JAMES's health features. Peter wears the JAMES B6 emergency watch which, in addition to serving as a mobile emergency call system from home, also measures heart rate and blood pressure. As a nature lover, he goes on long walks and therefore checks his readings several times a day. The collected data is then sent directly to the JAMES app, where his son Gerhard can monitor his father's health.
